Culture and Arts: Istanbouli Theatre launches Tyre international film festival for Mobile film Online

Istanbouli Theatre and Tiro Association for arts at The Lebanese National Theatre in Tyre announced the first version of the “Tyre international film festival for Mobil Film online" that will be held from the 20th to the 21st June.

 The films participating in the official competition will be screened via the Tyre international Short film festival site. The participating films are welcome to apply until 20th of May 2020.

Kassem Istanbouli, the founder of “The Lebanese National Theatre”, actor and director confirmed, “We have decided due to the current situation to establish a special round for the “Tyre international film festival for Mobil Film" to encourage young talents to present their vision to the world through movies shot by the mobile camera. Especially those who have limited resources and means to start their first experiences amid the technological development and the existence of smartphone technologies capable of making a new generation of new cinema makers and their impact on the future of cinema”.

The organizing committee has set a number of criteria that should be available in the films presented to the festival for participation. It is essential that the films, whether they are records or a short film, to be shot using a mobile phone as well as to determine the model of the mobile used, the films must be at least 20 megapixels. The movie duration must not exceed 5 minutes or be shorter than 2 minutes and the films must be sent via the festival's e-mail address or by uploading them online to the festival.

The association also schedules and hosts "Live" storytelling sessions online under the title "A Tale from Every House" within the program "Online Theatre and Cinema". This program includes conducting training workshops for children and youth in drawing and writing scenarios. In addition to, implementing the project “Men al Shebbek” (from the balcony) that includes producing a cinematic short film through the mobile phone by inviting interested parties to film a video clip from the balconies of their houses. The clip should contain a story, a song, a poem, or a musical and should not exceed 2 minutes.

Tiro Association for Arts is also working on scheduling and hosting artistic cinematic and educational performances for children and youth and providing the cinema free-of-charge for any director who wants to screen their movie. It is also working on forming mutual networks with festivals abroad and opening an opportunity for young filmmakers to share their films as well as introducing the public to the history of local and international cinema. In addition the decentralization of performances through “The Art Peace Bus” for mobile performances. That is also working on opening educational platforms in Lebanon, starting from “Hamra Cinema” in Tyre, “Stars Cinema” in Nabatiye and “Rivoli Cinema”. “Rivoli Cinema” is a cinema that was transformed into the Lebanese national theatre, the first theatre and cinema free-of-charge in Lebanon. It is a cultural, free and independent platform. It established workshops and theatre, cinema, and music festivals such as Tyre International Music festival, Lebanon's festival for contemporary dance, storytelling and woman’s monodrama, days of Palestine cultural festival, Tiro’s arts festival, and the Chouf Lebanon festival in cinema.
