Culture and Arts: Lebanon International Festival of Contemporary Dance: Open call for Dancers 

Tiro Association for Arts invites the participation for the Lebanese Festival of Contemporary Dance in its first edition, which will take place in the Lebanese National Theater from 13 to 16 July 2019.

The festival programming will comprise international and national artists from a broad variety of genres of contemporary dance, located in the historic city of Tyre, South Lebanon. Tiro Association for Arts has been at the forefront of cultivating independent expression through the arts in the South of Lebanon since 2015 when it called itself Istanbouli Theatre, and today currently runs the first ever free National Theatre in Lebanon. The Festival aims to celebrate innovation in dance across borders. The resurrection of previous iconic venues such as Al Hamra Cinema and Cinema Stars, the Lebanese National Theatre has found a home in the historic Cinema Rivoli, a cultural building which was abandoned for 29 years after the civil war, which now plays host to theatrical, cinematic and musical festivals, carnivals and workshops.

Festival Director, Kassem Istanbouli is a leading actor and theatre director and is considered one of the most prominent cultural and artistic figures in his struggle for accessible theatre and cinemas in Lebanon. Mr. Istanbouli and his association aim to revive the long forgotten cinemas, previously closed due to conflict,  in order to regenerate them as important spaces for cultural exchange and expression.

In French: Festival International de Danse Contemporaine du Liban: Appel ouvert aux danseurs

L'Association des arts Tiro recherche des danseurs pour participer à sa première édition 'le Festival libanais de danse contemporaine', qui se déroulera du 13 au 16 juillet 2019 au Théâtre national libanais.

Le festival, situé dans la ville historique de Tyr, dans le sud du Liban, invite des artistes internationaux et nationaux appartenant à une grande variété de genres de danse contemporaine. L'Association des arts Tiro,  est une association avant-garde des expressions indépendantes à travers les arts et la culture dans le sud du Liban depuis 2015, quand il s'appelait le théâtre d'Istanbouli.Elle dirige actuellement le premier théâtre national libre au Liban. Le festival a pour but de célébrer l'innovation dans la danse à travers les frontières. Prenant ses racines d'anciens lieux emblématiques tels que le cinéma Al Hamra et le Cinéma Stars, le Théâtre national libanais a élu domicile dans l'historique Cinéma Rivoli, édifice culturel abandonné pendant 29 ans après la guerre civile et qui accueille aujourd'hui des représentations théâtrales et cinématographiques, des festivals de musique, carnavals et ateliers.

Le directeur du festival, Kassem Istanbouli, est un acteur et metteur en scène de premier plan. A travers sa lutte pour un théâtre et un cinéma accessible au Liban, il est considéré comme l'une des figure culturelle et artistique les influente. M. Istanbouli et son association ont pour objectif de faire revivre les salles de cinéma oubliées, auparavant fermées en raison de conflits, afin de les réhabiliter en tant qu' espaces incontournable pour les échanges culturels et l’expression artistique.
