Saadallah Lebbos

Sculptor

About the artist

Born in Tyre, south Lebanon, in 1947, Saadallah started his career in 1982.

Since then, his work has been shown frequently in galleries and museums as well as in many private shows throughout the country. In 1987, he was chosen by the Principality of Monaco to represent Lebanon in the 11e Biennale d’Art Contemporain de Monaco, under the auspices of Prince Rainier.

Lebbos has to his account more than ten solo exhibitions in Lebanon, Egypt, and the United States of America He participated in more than fifty group exhibits in Lebanon, Italy, France, Egypt, and the United States and took part in the Autumn Saloon of Sursock Museum for more than six years in a row.

About his work

Lebbos’ works are mainly of stone and marble. They are often organic forms that recall geometric shapes depicting the cyclical nature of life or the hard, edged brutality of the modern world.

His work is a celebration and exploration of self and inner realms, but mostly man’s osmosis with the universe. It explores in symbols, the ways in which we are related, connected, as humankind and the ways in which we are special and unique. It explores the richness of the mind, the ongoing inner conversations that shape our responses and our being, and most of all, the infinity and vastness of the cosmos and the soul.

Extracts of Press Articles
