Biography:
Born in Beirut, Tarek Atrissi has worked and studied in Lebanon, the Netherlands and the United States. He holds a BA in Graphic Design with distinction from the American university of Beirut, an MA in Interactive Multimedia from the Utrecht School of the Arts in Holland and an MFA in Design from the School of Visual Arts in New York- where he studied under people like Steven Heller, Paula Scher and Stefan Sagmeister.
His work has been exhibited at the Guggenheim museum in New York and has been featured in several international design magazines and books, e.g. Print magazine [USA] Novum magazine [Germany], Create Online magazine [UK], Item Magazine [the Netherlands] Output [Germany] and ArabAd magazine.
He received in 2002 the "Adobe Achievement awards" first prize for his Print work as well as a third prize for his Web work. He was awarded 4 time by IBDAA99, an open design competition for professional Designers in the Arab world.
He is the founder of arabictypography.com, the online communication platform for Arabic Designers.
His multicultural background is reflected in his work both in traditional printed graphic design as well as in interactive design/information architecture.
