Jean Lahoud

Short Biography:

Born in Amchit, Lebanon, Jean Lahoud completed his secondary education at “College des Apotres” in Jounieh. He later moved on to the Academy of Fine Arts at “St. Esprit University,” in Kaslik, where he obtained a Diploma of Architecture in 1982 with distinction. Jean was always passionate about fine arts, and painting in specific. In 1987, he traveled to Ecuador in South America, where he remained for six years and elevated his hobby of painting to a more professional level. Aside from his exhibitions, Jean has used the Internet to promote his artwork and received many invitations to international art festivals.

View on Art:

In his opinion, painting must be different from reality, which can be easily captured in snapshots. It is a field of mysterious entities and abstract concepts hidden in the artist's mind. Jean feels that painting is a reflection of one’s thoughts and visions using the language of the arts, whereby the artist projects the image of a new situation, creature, or world onto a canvas. A painting can be compared to a dream, highly imaginative and rich in twisted realism.

Articles:

Source (thelebanon.com) “Modern art, full of colors, shapes and geometry. The spirit of Jean Lahoud goes along all the paintings, giving them a personal touch that characterize his art. We can say that artist Jean Lahoud is one of the few painters who keeps the same touch in his painting without falling and being trapped by mere repetition.”
